Ronald Reed, a local entrepreneur, long-time wildlife advocate, and author posted a Guest Opinion in the Spokesman Review on August 3rd   “The real problem isn’t the wolves — it’s us.”

Ronald Reed explains that the killing of an adult male wolf from the Togo Pack last week by Washington State Fish and Wildlife Department marked the fifth time that pack has been targeted since 2018. He states, “This is not an isolated failure—it is a symptom of a larger breakdown in how we manage conflict and conservation across our state.” He further shares that his Op-Ed is a call not only for accountability, but for transformation—one that reflects the best of what we, the public, already know to be true: that coexistence is possible, scalable, and already succeeding in places where science, ethics, and collaboration are allowed to lead.
